The Association
Interpharma is the association of research-based pharmaceutical companies in Switzerland and was founded in 1933 as an association based in Basel.
Historically, Interpharma was founded by the major Swiss research-based pharmaceutical companies. With the opening up of the industry in recent years and the associated sharp rise in membership to 23 research-based pharmaceutical companies today, Interpharma has developed into the umbrella organisation for research-based pharmaceutical companies in Switzerland. Its broad support throughout Switzerland strengthens Interpharma’s position in promoting the international competitiveness of Switzerland as a centre for research and pharmaceuticals. Interpharma works closely with all stakeholders in the Swiss healthcare system and international organisations, in particular with interest groups representing the research-based pharmaceutical industry in Switzerland and abroad.
Our Vision
We are the driving force behind an efficient, high-quality healthcare sector that provides patients with rapid access to innovative therapies and the best possible treatments. In Switzerland and abroad, we promote an environment that delivers best-in-class healthcare to patients, rewards innovation and allows our industry to significantly contribute to Switzerland’s prosperity, growth and competitiveness.
Our Mission
We represent stakeholders and are committed to a regulatory environment that promotes innovation in Switzerland and abroad while paving the way for pharmaceutical research and development.
We engage as active partners with all stakeholders in the healthcare system to provide solution-oriented outcomes, ensuring quality alongside sustainable and universal patient access to innovation.
We are active contributors to the development of a social, economic and political framework designed to strengthen Switzerland as a pharmaceutical hub.
Membership
As a member of the international industry associations European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA) and International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers & Associations (IFPMA), Interpharma is part of a global network of leading research companies. Collaboration within these organisations strengthens international exchange and promotes high standards of innovation and ethics.
